Fishing License Sales Hit Five-Year High

Harrisburg, PA – The number of Pennsylvania fishing licenses sold through September 13 – 871,499 – has already eclipsed the total yearly sales for each of the last four years and represents the largest one- year percentage increase since 1980, according to sales figures from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). Children’s Lake to be Drawn Down

Boiling Springs, PA – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will begin lowering the water level at Children’s Lake in Cumberland County on October 1. The water level will be drawn down 3 feet to allow a weir to be constructed in the old mill race. The mill race is located on the southwest end of the lake below the arched bridge. While the lake is lowered, additional grounds improvements will be completed. Read more

Washington, DC – Atlantic coast states from Maine through Florida have scheduled their hearings to gather public comment on Draft Amendment 3 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Shad and River Herring. The dates, times, and locations of the scheduled meetings follow. Please note that some states will also be conducting hearings on other ASMFC proposed species management actions. Read more
