With winter’s somewhat early arrival, it seems like I’ve been waiting a long time for safe ice in these parts of the state. Thankfully, last week’s deep freeze has provided plenty!

It was Thanksgiving Day and Dad was talking about hunting again! He was passing around his video camera telling everyone about this Big Buck he saw for the last couple of weeks.

After a long and somewhat grueling deer season, I’ve been licking my wounds and taking stock of the situation. In a lot of ways, I took a pretty good beating from the local herd.

Ward Burton, an all-time great NASCAR driver and avid conservationist is coming to the 2009 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show®, presented by Chevrolet (Feb. 7-15) on February 10 & 11. Ward Burton made the NASCAR Cup series in 1994, and today is considered one of the all-time best in NASCAR, with five Nextel Cup racing wins under his belt, including the coveted 2002 44th Daytona 500 Champion title.

HARRISBURG, PA – Cabela’s, the largest mail-order, retail and internet outdoor outfitter in the world and “Official Retailer” of the 2009 Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show presented by Chevrolet (Feb. 7-15), will have an increased impact on this, the 54th edition of the show.

A lot of archers don’t do much shooting during the winter months. Outside ranges can be bitter cold, and the indoor 20-yard “dot leagues” most clubs offer this time of year, although great for improving your shooting, can be very monotonous.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will be travelling across the state during the next two months, hosting a series of public meetings to update local communities about the agency’s work while also hearing directly from participants about sporting issues affecting them. A total of eight evening meetings will be held, one in each of the commissioner districts.
