11/26/08 – HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Game Commission officials today announced that hunters started the 2008 black bear season by taking a preliminary harvest of slightly more than 1,700 black bears in 50 counties.

11/26/08 – HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officers (WCOs) confirmed today that a serval, an exotic cat from Africa that resembles a small cheetah, was killed the evening of Nov. 25, along Garrett Mill Road in Willistown Township, Chester County.

11/26/08 – HARRISBURG – Two days of bear hunting have produced a preliminary harvest of 2,518 bears, according to Pennsylvania Game Commission reports.

11/14/08 – HARRISBURG, PA – Trick-shooting archer, Randy Oitker, Albert Wutsch, master game butcher, and Lion Country Supply dog trainers are back by popular demand for the 2009 Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show (Feb. 7-15), State Farm Show Complex, Harrisburg. Randy Oitker thrills and amazes crowds by shooting 5 arrows and hitting 5 individual targets at a distance of 41 feet with one shot.

So far this archery season has been uneventful with few deer seen. I have been in areas with the some of the best buck sign I’ve ever hunted. I’ve seen some unbelievable rubs, and many scrapes have been popping up in some of my hunting areas within the last couple of weeks.
